{"id":297705,"date":"2026-02-14T12:06:08","date_gmt":"2026-02-14T12:06:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/297705\/"},"modified":"2026-02-14T12:06:08","modified_gmt":"2026-02-14T12:06:08","slug":"driver-flees-scene-of-fatal-three-car-crash-in-limerick-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/297705\/","title":{"rendered":"Driver flees scene of fatal three-car crash in Limerick \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A woman in her 30s has been killed in a three-car collision in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/limerick\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/limerick\/\">Limerick<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">One of the cars was abandoned at the scene, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/an-garda-siochana\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/an-garda-siochana\/\">garda\u00ed<\/a> are seeking the driver. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The crash occurred at about 11.10pm on the N24 near Grange West, Boher, Co. Limerick, on Friday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The sole woman occupant of one of the cars was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Her body was brought to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick where a postmortem will take place. Garda\u00ed said the coroner has been notified.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The only occupant of the second car, a man in his 40s, was brought to the hospital with injuries that are not thought to be life threatening. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cInvestigating garda\u00ed are seeking to identify the driver of the third car. That driver fled, leaving the vehicle they were driving at the scene,\u201d garda\u00ed said in a statement on Saturday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The N24 between R505 and L1132 remained closed on Saturday morning pending an examination and diversions were put in place.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Garda\u00ed have appealed for any witnesses to  the collision.
