{"id":297746,"date":"2026-02-14T12:40:18","date_gmt":"2026-02-14T12:40:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/297746\/"},"modified":"2026-02-14T12:40:18","modified_gmt":"2026-02-14T12:40:18","slug":"limerick-native-appointed-as-chairperson-of-enterprise-ireland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/297746\/","title":{"rendered":"Limerick native appointed as Chairperson of Enterprise Ireland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE MINISTER for enterprise, trade and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.limerickleader.ie\/section\/751\/farming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">employment<\/a>, Peter Burke, has announced Jim Woulfe as the chairperson of Enterprise Ireland.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mr Woulfe has held the position of interim chair since June of 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>READ ALSO:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.limerickleader.ie\/news\/crime-and-courts\/2012594\/limerick-garda-feared-for-his-safety-when-caught-up-in-traveller-fight-that-involved-up-to-50-people.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Limerick garda feared for his safety when caught up in traveller fight that involved up to 50 people<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Originally from Ardagh, he joined the Ballyclough Coop in Mallow in 1979, after he graduated from University College Cork with a degree in Dairy Science. Ballyclough Coop later merged into Dairygold.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Over the course of four decades, Mr Woulfe held a senior leadership position in Dairygold, including head of HR, head of agri business and he was appointed chief executive in 2009.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mr Woulfe served as chief executive of Dairygold Co\u2011Operative Society until his retirement in December 2021, following 42 years with the organisation.<\/p>\n<p>Minister Burke said that Mr Woulfe brings his deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing Irish businesses to his new role at chairperson of Enterprise Ireland.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Jim brings a proven\u00a0track record in corporate governance, strategic leadership and enterprise development, skills that are essential in strengthening Ireland\u2019s enterprise base, creating employment and supporting companies to compete internationally.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJim has already demonstrated strong leadership as interim chair.
