If you\u2019re a singer or know someone with lots of musical talent, then Una Healy’s got great news for you.<\/p>\n

The Irish star appeared on the Late Late Show on Friday to announce an exciting new competition that\u2019ll see someone thrust into the spotlight.<\/p>\n

Una is on the search for Ireland’s next country music star and will be acting as a judge – something she has plenty of experience in after her music career and working on The Voice of Ireland.<\/p>\n

Chatting with host Patrick Kielty, Una said: ‘We\u2019re looking for someone who\u2019s a great singer, wants to perform, wants to be an artist, but hasn\u2019t had the opportunity or platform to get out there.\u2019<\/p>\n

Patrick jumped in to say, \u2018you know, people say it started on the Late Late Show,\u2019 with Una agreeing before explaining how to enter and what she\u2019ll be on the lookout for as a judge.<\/p>\n

\u2018We\u2019re looking for entries for people to send in videos of themselves singing. We don’t want any trickery involved, no autotune, just completely raw and organic,\u2019 Una said.<\/p>\n

Una added: \u2018That\u2019s what I do when I put up videos at home in the kitchen\u2026 find a room that\u2019s got nice acoustics and perform a song.’<\/p>\n

As for what type of song, she said: ‘It can be an original or a cover, original [is] even better because what I\u2019m looking for\u2026 is someone who\u2019s very original, be it their voice, because at the end of the day, there\u2019s so many amazing songwriters out there who can write you the songs, but if you can write [that\u2019s great].’<\/p>\n

Budding singers must submit their video entries online<\/a> by March 17 and have to be available for rehearsals and a performance on April 16 and 17.<\/p>\n

The winner will be crowned The Late Late\u2019s Opening Act, and their prize will be just that, being the opening act on next year’s Country Music Special<\/a>.<\/p>\n

RT\u00c9’s application form reads: ‘If you’re an artist with a passion for country music, this is your chance to shine as The Late Late\u2019s Opening Act.<\/p>\n

‘We\u2019re looking for the next big country voice to perform live on The Late Late Show. Whether your inspiration is Luke Combs or Zach Bryan, Shania Twain or Taylor Swift, Daniel O\u2019Donnell or Margo \u2014 we want to hear from you.<\/p>\n

‘To apply, simply upload a video of yourself singing your favourite country classic and complete our application form.’<\/p>\n

One other thing to note is that applicants have to be 18 years old by the day of the competition, April 17.<\/p>\n
