A 32-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of a man in Belfast earlier this week.<\/p>\n
Isaac Koko, from Cromwell Road in the south of the city, appeared at Belfast Magistrates Court charged with the murder of Ahmed Abdi on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Police officers went to Mr Koko’s flat following the report of a “concern for safety”.<\/p>\n
The victim was found injured and taken to hospital but died later.<\/p>\n
A PSNI detective inspector told the court that during five interviews over a two-day period, Mr Koko had denied the charge and claimed he had acted in self-defence.<\/p>\n
He said the defendant also said that both he and Mr Abdi had consumed a large amount of alcohol.<\/p>\n
Mr Koko, from Sudan, spoke only to confirm his name and that he understood the charge.<\/p>\n
