Met \u00c9ireann has confirmed its weather radar at Dublin Airport has been offline since Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

It said its dedicated radar team is working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n

However, the forecaster said its capabilities continue with data from multiple observations sources including other weather radar operating in Ireland and the UK, satellite imagery and weather reports from ground stations nationwide.<\/p>\n

Additionally, it said weather forecast models, numerical weather prediction systems, are operating as normal.<\/p>\n

Several areas of north Dublin experienced significant levels of flooding after heavy rain fell on Thursday night and Friday morning.<\/p>\n

Met \u00c9ireann said: “Regarding Thursday the 12th into Friday the 13th 2026 in the Dublin area the loss of the Dublin radar data was mitigated by use of data from these other sources. The Dublin area, in particular, is well served with ground weather stations”.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, Met \u00c9ireann said the weather situation on Thursday night and Friday morning was “complex and evolving”, with the decision to suddenly issue a Status Yellow warning at 2.37am taken after rain was falling heavier than previously indicated.<\/a><\/p>\n

Sources in local government yesterday said the warning came too late and that previous warnings were insufficient to prepare for the amount of rain that fell overnight.<\/p>\n
