Everything seemed ready.And then, it all collapsed.Years later, Anita Advani revealed what she claims went wrong behind the scenes.Speaking to Vickey Lalwani, Anita said, \u201cSatyam Shivam Sundaram didn\u2019t happen because Raj Kapoor\u2019s sons didn\u2019t want to cast him. They protested, saying there were already multiple heroes in the family, so why bring in an outsider? There was tension around it.\u201dWhat followed was even more dramatic.\u201cIt was Rajesh Khanna\u2019s birthday. He had hosted a grand party where Raj Kapoor was supposed to officially announce the film. The party was meant to go on late into the night, but Raj ji arrived around 5 pm. He said, \u2018I am very sorry, but main haar gaya (I lost). I won\u2019t be able to make this film with you.\u2019 And then he left.\u201dJust like that, the film ended before it began. <\/p>\n

Years later, destiny brought the families together again. Rishi Kapoor<\/a> approached Rajesh Khanna for his directorial debut, Aa Ab Laut Chalen.\u201cRajesh Khanna initially didn\u2019t want to do the film,\u201d Anita revealed. \u201cBut Krishna Kapoor came home and told him, \u2018Raj Kapoor had once wished to make a film with you but couldn\u2019t. I think you should take this up.\u2019 That\u2019s when he agreed.\u201dOn the first day of the shoot, Rajesh Khanna couldn\u2019t ignore the irony.\u201cHe told me, \u2018I was thinking how life comes full circle. Years ago, I was supposed to do a film with them that never happened. And now here we are \u2014 Rishi Kapoor himself is directing me.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n

A regret admitted later<\/p>\n

Years later, Rishi Kapoor addressed the episode in his autobiography, Khullam Khulla: Rishi Kapoor Uncensored.
