The Ireland striker scored his 23rd goal of the season for AZ Alkmaar in Saturday’s comeback win over former club Excelsior.<\/p>\n

Troy Parrott has been backed to secure a transfer to a \u201cmassive club\u201d this summer.<\/p>\n

The Ireland<\/a> striker, on Saturday night, scored his 23rd goal of the season for Eredivisie<\/a> side AZ Alkmaar<\/a>, netting an equaliser against his former club Excelsior in injury-time.<\/p>\n

Alkmaar went on to win the game 2-1, thanks to Alexandre Penetra\u2019s 96th minute strike.<\/p>\n

Parrott now has 28 goals for club and country this term – including the five he scored for Ireland during last November\u2019s World Cup<\/a> qualifiers against Portugal and Hungary.<\/p>\n

And with his form making him one of the most talked about strikers in Europe, he has been backed to make a Premier League<\/a> return in the summer.<\/p>\n

Former Ireland midfielder Jeff Hendrick was still in the Ireland set-up when Parrott broke into the senior side under Mick McCarthy and Stephen Kenny.<\/p>\n

And he reckons Leeds United – who have been keeping a close eye on the Dubliner this year – would be the perfect destination for the free-scoring striker.<\/p>\n

\u201cLeeds United are a massive club, a big, big club,\u201d said Hendrick, speaking via Fruity King<\/a>. \u201cI look back to my childhood and remember seeing Leeds as one of the top teams in the Premier League.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow Troy is probably a good bit younger and didn’t see that, but he’ll know how big the club is.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think with Troy, it’s an interesting one because he went out on loan to different clubs in England and he realised what suits him.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe best move he made was going abroad to grow as a player, as a person, and find a style that suits him. He is flourishing out there.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo he needs to find a club that suits him. He knows his game, and he’ll need to sit down with a manager and look at the way the club plays, and it will have to suit him.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Leeds fans would love to have him there with how well he’s doing and the goals he can score. But I don’t think Troy is going to be short on options this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo it’s about getting all those options in and deciding which is best for him to maximise everything out of his career, because his career did sort of stand still for a few years and he won’t want that again. Making that right move is essential.\u201d<\/p>\n
