The FMG team has said they aim to position themselves as both a production entity and \u201cecosystem builder\u201d, with ambitions including international co-productions, diaspora-focused distribution, and long-term infrastructure development across Africa and its global communities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tFMG\u2019s first feature title, Calabash, screened this week in <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/berlin\/\" id=\"auto-tag_berlin\" data-tag=\"berlin\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Berlin<\/a> as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/afroberlin\/\" id=\"auto-tag_afroberlin\" data-tag=\"afroberlin\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">AfroBerlin<\/a> programme. Hounsou was also the guest speaker at this year\u2019s AfroBerlin conference. Directed by Omar S. Kamara, the film is described as a \u201cculture-clash comedy that peels back the veneer of a seemingly perfect wedding to reveal the chaos simmering underneath.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe synopsis reads: When two families with distinct traditions, expectations, and unspoken agendas come together for a celebration meant to unite them, anxiety-fueled scenarios quickly spiral.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cCalabash is a joyful exploration of what happens when Africa and its diaspora collide \u2014 culturally, emotionally, and comedically,\u201d Kamara said in a statement. \u201cIt\u2019s a story rooted in shared heritage, but told with a contemporary lens that we believe will resonate with audiences worldwide.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tHounsou\u2019s producing credits include Elephant White (2011), The Road to Freedom Park (2013), and his directorial debut In Search of Voodoo: Roots to Heaven (2018).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tRocha added: \u201cWe\u2019re incredibly honored for Djimon to be speaking at AfroBerlin and to bring a sneak-peek screening of Calabash to the festival \u2014 particularly following the film\u2019s special screening at Sundance.
