Another shake up is underway at <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishmirror.ie\/all-about\/ryanair\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">Ryanair<\/a>, as it&#8217;s set to scrap two routes linking Ireland with a popular Baltic destination.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The budget airline is in the middle of a wider European network review &#8211; and two popular connections between Ireland and Lithuania are among the latest cuts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">In the coming weeks, Ryanair will discontinue its service between <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishmirror.ie\/all-about\/dublin\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">Dublin <\/a>and Palanga, as well as its route linking Belfast and Kaunas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Palanga is a scenic seaside resort town known for its 18km stretch of sandy coastline and has become a popular choice for travellers looking for something different than a typical Mediterranean getaway.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Meanwhile, Kaunas is one of Lithuania&#8217;s largest cities and a popular weekend city break destination.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Lithuania&#8217;s airport operator confirmed the services will stop in April ahead of the peak summer season. Spokesperson for Lithuanian Airports Vitalija Roce told <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lrt.lt\/en\/news-in-english\/19\/2836130\/ryanair-to-cut-three-routes-from-lithuanian-airports\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">LRT<\/a>: &#8220;As Ryanair has communicated, it is carrying out a network review and reassessing flights from European airports, which affects both regional and large airports. There have been quite a few changes at various European airports.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">There was some reassurance for travellers as she added: &#8220;However, they are increasing frequencies on other routes from Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A Ryanair plane dropped a couple of thousand feet\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1_Planes-at-Leonardo-Da-Vinci-international-airport-in-Fiumicino.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p aria-label=\"File photo of a Ryanair plane\" class=\"ImageCaption_caption-title__ccyQU\" data-testid=\"caption-title\">File photo of a Ryanair plane(Image: Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Dublin will remain connected to Lithuania through direct services to Kaunas and Vilnius, but once the Kaunas &#8211; Belfast route ends, there will be no direct flights between Lithuania and <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishmirror.ie\/all-about\/belfast\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">Belfast<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Ryanair has been trimming routes across Europe in response to rising airport charges, aviation taxes and operating costs. It also recently confirmed to<a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.corkbeo.ie\/news\/local-news\/ryanair-scrap-two-major-cork-33191354\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\"> Cork Beo <\/a>that its year round services to Poznan and Gdansk in <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishmirror.ie\/all-about\/poland\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">Poland <\/a>will be removed from <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishmirror.ie\/all-about\/cork-airport\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">Cork Airport&#8217;s schedule<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Flights for both cities currently run twice a week and will continue to do so until their final services on March 26 and March 28 respectively.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">It comes after <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishmirror.ie\/all-about\/ryanair\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">Ryanair <\/a>shifted one of the company&#8217;s four aircraft in Cork to Shannon for the winter season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Speaking last July, Michael O&#8217;Leary said he hopes to bring a fourth aircraft back to Cork for summer 2026. He said: &#8220;<a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishmirror.ie\/all-about\/shannon-airport\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">Shannon Airport<\/a> has lower costs than Cork. I think we&#8217;ll be able to put the fourth aircraft back into Cork next summer.
