Talking Heads<\/a> have shared a raw digital demo of their classic hit \u2018Psycho Killer\u2019.<\/p>\n

The raw 1975 cut of the 1977 hit is one of the earliest recordings by the original trio of David Byrne<\/a>, Chris Frantz, and Tina Weymouth.<\/p>\n

The demo was recorded at CBS Studios during a session that produced rough cuts of several other songs from Talking Heads\u2019 first two albums, including \u2018Don\u2019t Worry About The Government\u2019, \u2018The Book I Read\u2019, \u2018Thank You For Sending Me An Angel\u2019 and \u2018Stay Hungry\u2019.<\/p>\n

This particular demo retains the song\u2019s iconic bassline, but is missing the guitar licks that flourished throughout the track. You can listen to it below.<\/p>\n

It is taken from the\u00a011-track vinyl, \u2018Tentative Decisions: Demos & Live<\/a>\u2018, which was released as part of Record Store Day Black Friday 2025<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The recordings were believed to be lost until they were recently discovered in the Rhode Island School Of Design archives.<\/p>\n

The LP \u201ctraces the band\u2019s progression from raw punk minimalism to a more structured, angular musical approach that reflects broader shifts in post-punk aesthetics of the late 1970s\u201d.<\/p>\n

It will be released again on March 6 on vinyl and on a 3xCD and can be pre-ordered here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, David Byrne has kicked off the European leg of his \u2018Who Is The Sky?\u2019 world tour. It is due to drop into the UK on March 2 at the Utilita Arena, Cardiff before he performs a number of shows at the Eventim Apollo in London.<\/p>\n

Byrne is touring his solo album, also titled \u2018Who Is The Sky?\u2019, which came out last September in collaboration with the New York City ensemble Ghost Train Orchestra. It\u2019s his first studio album since 2018\u2019s \u2018American Utopia<\/a>\u2019, and features Hayley Williams<\/a>,\u00a0St. Vincent<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0The Smile<\/a>\u2019s Tom Skinner.<\/p>\n
