LEGO recreates claude monet\u2019s painting as a brick set<\/p>\n

LEGO<\/a> reproduces Claude Monet\u2019s 1899 Bridge over a Pond of Water Lilies painting into a buildable set, in collaboration with The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Comprising 3,179 bricks<\/a>, the project reinterprets the artist\u2019s impressionist brushwork, from the layered strokes to the atmospheric colors of the flowers and greenery. The LEGO set replicates the painting, housed in The Met\u2019s collection, as discrete tiles. When placed, these small blocks begin to paint a bigger picture, a landscape made of an arched bridge, a reflective pond, and a cluster of lilies and trees.<\/p>\n

The Claude Monet LEGO set comes with tactile tiles that, when put together, conceive the view of the water from the original painting, even slightly shifting with the color because of the different shades of the blocks. A diagonal band of lighter elements cuts from the top right to the bottom left, reflecting the streak of light that structures the original canvas, and the bridge appears in the forefront visibly, colored in light blue and comprising rectangular bricks.<\/p>\n

Using the 3,179 blocks, the Claude Monet LEGO set<\/a> comes to life brick by brick, slowly creating a shallow topography that reimagines the impressionist style of the original painting<\/a> at The Met. A denser concentration of lilies appears on the right side, referencing the artist\u2019s preference for organic irregularity. This uneven design makes the scene feel more alive because it\u2019s not as perfect as it seems. Small details, such as butterflies, flowers, and fruit elements, extend the theme of cultivated nature, a nod to the artist\u2019s garden at Giverny.<\/p>\n

The LEGO set depicting Claude Monet\u2019s water lilies painting has a wall hanger, so users can put it on the wall like a piece of art. There is also a large LEGO version of the painting at The Met, and builders can use the Builder app for digital instructions to replicate that one.
