The singer and actress opened up further about the first new music she released in 10 years<\/a> during a cover story interview with Glamour<\/a> published on Tuesday, Feb. 17.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s definitely about a relationship that I had. It was very brief with someone older than me, and that was not illegal, but inappropriate when you have this much time removed from it,\u201d Duff, 38, told the publication.<\/p>\n She continued, “Everybody speculates, but I\u2019m not sure they got it right\u2026. I think that it\u2019s super nuanced and it\u2019s hard to defend certain things that have happened in my life.”<\/p>\n Duff then noted that “working as an adult since I was 10 years old, it\u2019s very hard to have relationships with people your own age.”<\/p>\n She then coyly pointed out that “if I wanted to say who [the song was about], I would.”<\/p>\n Duff released “Mature” in November 2025, which was cowritten and produced by her husband\u00a0Matthew Koma.<\/a> The track marked her first new original single since\u00a0her 2015 album<\/a>\u00a0Breathe In. Breathe Out.<\/p>\n In a statement at the time, the “Roommates”<\/a> singer wrote, “Mature\u2019 is a little conversation that my present self is having with my younger self.”<\/p>\n She continued, “The two of us are reflecting on a past experience and sending love to each other. It\u2019s a chuckle, a wink and a sense of being grateful that we are sure footed in where we landed.”<\/p>\n After its release, fans began fans speculated about the song’s inspiration \u2014 and many roads led back to Leonardo DiCaprio<\/a>\u00a0due to the lyric, “very Leo of you with your Scorpio touch.” (The actor, born Nov. 11, is a Scorpio.)<\/p>\n Then, Koma, 38, fueled the flames by sharing a meme of DiCaprio, 51, in\u00a0Titanic\u00a0with her album artwork on his Instagram Stories.<\/p>\n Duff addressed the rumors later that month during an interview on\u00a0On Air with Ryan Seacrest.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cFirst of all, we\u2019re getting the biggest kick out of the speculations,” she said at the time. “It\u2019s honestly, it\u2019s thrilling. It\u2019s 100% thrilling and the internet is such a funny place. I\u2019m obsessed with everyone and I\u2019m seeing all the videos.”<\/p>\n Duff added, “No, you can’t take anything that Matthew posts seriously.
