{"id":303851,"date":"2026-02-18T07:01:07","date_gmt":"2026-02-18T07:01:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/303851\/"},"modified":"2026-02-18T07:01:07","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T07:01:07","slug":"gardai-seize-44-illegal-bikes-and-scramblers-in-day-of-action","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/303851\/","title":{"rendered":"Garda\u00ed seize 44 illegal bikes and scramblers in \u2018day of action\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Garda\u00ed have seized 44 illegal bikes and scramblers in a \u201cday of action\u201d in Ballymun on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na said they searched 13 homes in the north Dublin suburb as part of Operation Meacan, which is aimed at tackling vehicles suspected of being used in criminal activity.<\/p>\n<p>They say the vehicles, which were taken under the Roads Traffic Act 2023, include 18 e-scooters, 14 e-bikes, two motorbikes, three Surrons and seven mini quad bikes.<\/p>\n<p>The operation involved members from the community response, drugs and armed support units, as well as Dublin City Council dog wardens.<\/p>\n<p>Drugs, cash and weapons were also found during the raids.<\/p>\n<p>A teenager was arrested after \u20ac9,000 worth of cannabis was found at one home.<\/p>\n<p>The discovery of \u20ac2,000 worth of zopiclone\/alprazolam prescription medicines at another property led to the arrest of a man in his 20s.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Garda\u00ed have seized 44 illegal bikes and scramblers in a \u201cday of action\u201d in Ballymun on Tuesday.
