Garda\u00ed in Cavan are continuing to investigate the circumstances behind a hit and run incident on the outskirts of the county town yesterday evening that left two people in hospital with serious injuries.<\/p>\n

Garda\u00ed have launched a manhunt for the driver of a car involved in a hit-and-run in Co Cavan on Tuesday evening. <\/p>\n

The incident left a young female pedestrian (aged in her 20s) with serious injuries in hospital, and a front seat passenger seriously hospitalised in a coma. <\/p>\n

The young woman was rushed to Cavan General Hospital with what have been described as \u201cserious injuries\u201d after the incident which took place along a stretch of the L1513 Loreto Road in Cavan town.<\/p>\n

The front seat passenger in the car sustained a serious head injury and was brought to Dublin\u2019s Beaumont Hospital, where they remain in a coma in the hospital\u2019s intensive care unit.<\/p>\n

The driver of the car ran from the scene, leading to the road being closed off and a full scale garda investigation getting underway.<\/p>\n

The Irish Independent understands garda\u00ed are following a definite of inquiry and searched a property last night in a bid to further those inquiries.<\/p>\n

It is believed the suspect is known to garda\u00ed. He was in prison recently and was arrested last month while driving for suspected drug driving while trying to \u201coutrun a garda car\u201d.<\/p>\n
