In June of 2024, it was announced that\u00a0Evil Dead Rise<\/a>\u00a0director\u00a0Lee Cronin<\/a>\u00a0had signed on to write and direct a new genre project for Atomic Monster, Blumhouse Productions, and New Line Cinema\u2026 and that December, we found out what that mysterious project is, as it was revealed that Cronin has come up with a new take on the concept of\u00a0The Mummy! Cronin confirmed, \u201cThis will be unlike any\u00a0Mummy\u00a0movie you ever laid eyeballs on before. I\u2019m digging deep into the earth to raise something very ancient and very frightening.\u201d The film is set to reach theatres on\u00a0April 17, 2026\u00a0\u2013 and with that date swiftly approaching, a full trailer for\u00a0Lee Cronin\u2019s The Mummy\u00a0has been unveiled. Cast<\/p>\n

Lee Cronin\u2019s The Mummy\u00a0stars Jack Reynor (Midsommar), Laia Costa (Victoria), May Calamawy\u00a0(Moon Knight),\u00a0Veronica Falc\u00f3n\u00a0(Queen of the South), Hayat Kamille (Vikings: Valhalla), and\u00a0May Elghety\u00a0(Clash). <\/p>\n

It should be noted that, since the project is set up at New Line Cinema, this \u201cnew take on the horror trope revolving around the ancient mummified undead\u201d has nothing to do with the classic Universal horror property. We heard\u00a0back in May 2024<\/a>\u00a0that there are three\u00a0Mummy\u00a0projects in development at Universal, including a prequel that screenwriter Wes Tooke is working on and a sequel to the Brendan Fraser films (those being\u00a0The Mummy\u00a01999,\u00a0The Mummy Returns, and\u00a0The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor). It was recently confirmed that Fraser and Rachel Weisz are coming back for\u00a0The Mummy 4<\/a>, which has Radio Silence attached to direct from a script by David Coggeshall.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the synopsis: synopsis:\u00a0The young daughter of a journalist disappears into the desert without a trace\u2014eight years later, the broken family is shocked when she is returned to them, as what should be a joyful reunion turns into a living nightmare.<\/p>\n

Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are co-financing Lee Cronin\u2019s film. James Wan is producing alongside Jason Blum and John Keville. Michael Clear, Judson Scott, and Macdara Kelleher serve as executive producers. Alayna Glasthal is the executive overseeing the project for Atomic Monster. Cronin\u2019s Doppelg\u00e4ngers banner is also producing.<\/p>\n
