{"id":306616,"date":"2026-02-19T18:57:08","date_gmt":"2026-02-19T18:57:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/306616\/"},"modified":"2026-02-19T18:57:08","modified_gmt":"2026-02-19T18:57:08","slug":"filming-begins-on-corks-answer-to-normal-people","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/306616\/","title":{"rendered":"Filming begins on Cork&#8217;s\u00a0 answer to &#8216;Normal People&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"contextmenu internal_Body1st\">Filming has begun on the TV adaptation of the series that is being dubbed Cork\u2019s answer to Normal People.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\n             The Rachel Incident, by Cork author Caroline O\u2019Donoghue, which is set in the city and in UCC, began filming in the city last Christmas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">The eight-part series for Channel 4 will star  Obituary\u2019s M\u00e1ir\u00e9ad Tyers as Rachel, alongside Ellis Howard as James.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">They are joined by  Bad Sisters and  Rosie star Sarah Greene as Deenie, and Daniel Ings, who is currently starring in  A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, as Dr Fred Byrne.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Set on Leeside in 2010, the story follows Rachel, a student who is working at a bookstore when she meets James \u2014 and it\u2019s love at first sight.
