WASHINGTON \u2014 Tracy Beth H\u00f8eg, the top drug regulator at the Food and Drug Administration, indicated in her first address to staff that she\u2019ll scrutinize antidepressants and the shots used to protect babies from RSV.<\/p>\n

H\u00f8eg told employees on Thursday that her top priorities include two issues she\u2019s focused on in the recent past: evaluating the safety of antidepressants taken by pregnant women and of monoclonal antibodies that protect infants against RSV.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been interested to learn we really haven\u2019t been doing sort of thorough safety monitoring of these products during pregnancy, and so I think we could do a better job,\u201d H\u00f8eg said. \u201cI actually think that there\u2019s agreement about that, and among the CDER staff that I\u2019ve been working with on this issue, so I\u2019m excited to see that.\u201d<\/p>\n
