\n\tThe cast of \u201cLandman<\/a>\u201d knows that many actors claim their costars are family. But for the group of actors who came together for Taylor Sheridan\u2019s drama, it\u2019s the truth. Billy Bob Thornton<\/a>, Sam Elliott<\/a>, Ali Larter<\/a>, Demi Moore<\/a> and Andy Garcia open up about the collaboration for Variety\u2018s For the Love of the Craft: The Ensemble, presented by Paramount+.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s an incredible group of people to be involved with on both sides of the camera. I\u2019d had an experience with Taylor before in \u20181883,\u2019 and that I think was one of the highlights of my 50-60-70-year career. This, on some level, is every bit as special as that was,\u201d says Elliott, who portrays T.L. Norris. \u201cI think it\u2019s always a great gift when you have a relationship off-screen as well as on-screen. I\u2019ve worked on projects over the years where that wasn\u2019t so, and it\u2019s not so much fun, and I\u2019ve always been of the mind, if you can\u2019t enjoy this business and you can\u2019t have fun when you\u2019re doing this, you\u2019re doing it the wrong way.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIt also helps that when someone is done filming, \u201cnot everybody\u2019s racing out,\u201d says Moore, Instead, they stay and spend time together. Or, go to sing karaoke.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m not into karaoke, but there\u2019s a karaoke place in Fort Worth and a lot of the crew like to go out there and I used to go with them because it\u2019s just such an amazing shit show when we all go out there and everybody kind of lets their hair down,\u201d Thornton says. \u201cYou get to see your castmates and your coworkers and the crew let go, and I think that was a great bonding experience. We usually go there three or four times a season. You outdid yourself this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe group collboration \u201cthe appeal of the show,\u201d adds Elliot. \u201cEverybody down the line is of equal importance in this thing, and they\u2019re thought of on equal ground. We\u2019re all there for each other all the time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe actors also spoke about finding the unique tone of the series, something Sheridan is an expert at.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s inherent in Taylor\u2019s writing. The words are there. The dynamics of the scenes are there,\u201d says Garcia. \u201cAs the great acting teacher, San Meisner said, \u2018Live truthfully within imaginary circumstances.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMoore adds, \u201cThe humor all really works because it\u2019s really grounded in heart. He knows just right when to bring that relief in.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFor Larter, when she began reading early scripts, she recognized how Sheridan was able to seamlessly mix the tones. \u201cHe knows when the audience is ready for a break or when they need a laugh or when we\u2019re going to go into a deeper romance or you need an intimate scene to show the vulnerability within a character,\u201d she says. \u201cI\u2019ve never been on a show like that where we flip so much, but it\u2019s always grounded within who these characters are and what the relationships are.\u201d<\/p>\n
