<\/p>\nIrish Cancer Society provides \u20ac12,000 to Roscommon-town based Roscommon Cancer Support Centre\n<\/p>\n

The Roscommon Cancer Support Centre has received \u20ac12,000 from the Irish Cancer Society to provide free counselling sessions for people affected by cancer across the county. The funding will support 200 appointments provided to patients and their families throughout 2025.<\/p>\n
Founded in 1993, Vita House provides counselling and psychotherapy services for individuals, couples, children and families, alongside community education programmes, workshops and outreach initiatives.<\/p>\n
Since 2013, the building, which is based in Roscommon town, has also been home to the Roscommon Cancer Support Centre, which offers specialised supports for those living with or recovering from cancer.<\/p>\n
As well as the newly funded counselling sessions, the Roscommon Cancer Support Centre provides a range of complementary therapies, including massage, reflexology, Reiki and Indian head massage. The centre also runs wellbeing activities such as yoga, meditation, nutrition workshops and other programmes designed to support recovery and overall wellbeing.<\/p>\n
Mary Quinn, Head of Service Operations at the Irish Cancer Society said: \u201c1 in 2 of us will receive a cancer diagnosis in our lifetime, and when we do, we deserve the best possible support to help us process and come to terms with our diagnosis. On top of the physical impact of cancer treatment, we know the emotional and psychological toll cancer can take on patients and their loved ones during and beyond their diagnosis.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Quinn said the Irish Cancer Society were \u201cdelighted\u201d to partner with the Roscommon Cancer Support Centre.<\/p>\n
She also urged the public to support the upcoming the Irish Cancer Society\u2019s flagship Daffodil Day fundraiser on Friday, March 20.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe simply can\u2019t be there for those patients and families without the generosity and support of the Irish public. Every \u20ac60 we can raise is a free counselling session for a patient or their loved one. Every euro of your support will help make a difference,\u201d said Ms Quinn.<\/p>\n
Laura Mullooly, Coordinator of Services at Roscommon Cancer Support said: \u201cWe are truly thankful to Irish Cancer Society for their continued support and trust in what we do. Their backing means so much to us and, most importantly, to the people and families who walk through our doors every day. Because of this support, we can continue to be there for our community at every stage of their cancer journey.\u201d<\/p>\n
