Following news of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor\u2019s arrest<\/a> on suspicion of misconduct in public office yesterday, attention has turned to his daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson. While none of the three women have issued any public statements, there have been sources close to them who have briefed the media.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re trying to stay away from it,\u201d a source close to the princesses told People<\/a>. \u201cThey have young children, and this is their grandfather\u2014their focus is on protecting their own children from this.\u201d The source added, \u201cThey\u2019re also putting pieces of the puzzle together in real time and realizing they may have been used. That has to feel like a complete betrayal. They\u2019re heartbroken\u2014but a dad is still your dad, and a mom is still your mom. Love for a parent isn\u2019t a light switch. It\u2019s an incredibly painful and introspective moment for them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Princess Eugenie is reportedly<\/a> on a ski vacation in Gstaad with her husband and sons. Princess Beatrice\u2019s husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi<\/a>, was also out of the country recently, having shared an Instagram<\/a> last week in Palm Beach, Florida.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a source close to the former Duchess of York told the Telegraph<\/a>: \u201cThis is catastrophic for her and the girls. She seems to be doing her best to put a brave face on it. Her desperation for money was clear stupidity but does that equate to what she\u2019s going through now?\u201d<\/p>\n

Andrew has always denied any wrongdoing. He was released from the Aylsham Police Station in Norfolk<\/a> last night after around 11 hours in custody.<\/p>\n
