\n\tFans tuning in to Hilary Duff\u2019s new album \u201cLuck\u2026 or Something\u201d<\/a> quickly speculated that the track \u201cWe Don\u2019t Talk\u201d was about her strained relationship with her sister Haylie. Duff confirmed that the song is indeed about their estrangement, stating that it\u2019s \u201cthe most lonely part of my existence.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s definitely about my sister, and just absolutely the most lonely part of my existence is not having my sister in my life at the moment,\u201d she said during an interview with CBS Mornings\u2019 Anthony Mason. \u201cAnd really struggled with thinking about including that on the record. But it\u2019s funny, as a person that exists in the world without my other half, so many people are having that experience and a lot of conversations with people are like, yeah, me too.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOn \u201cWe Don\u2019t Talk,\u201d Duff sings about how she\u2019s \u201cnot sure when it happened\u201d or \u201cwhat it was about,\u201d referring to their rift. \u201cIf it\u2019s \u2019cause you\u2019re jealous, God knows I would sell it all then break you off the bigger half,\u201d sings Duff of Haylie, who also has had a career as a musician.<\/p>\n

\n\tDuff looked visibly upset as she discussed her sister and explained why she decided to include the song on the album. \u201cI think because it\u2019s my truth and like I said, so many people are having this experience,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s hard because I am me and people know everything about my life since I was a child, and I didn\u2019t necessarily choose that part, but it\u2019s my reality and so it was honestly healing to say. It\u2019s hard to watch your life unfold on the internet sometimes with talking heads on TikTok speculating this, that and the other. Sometimes they\u2019re wrong and sometimes they\u2019re right and all of that is just a crazy thing to process. I think I just try to less and less let that noise seep in but obviously it\u2019s there.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen asked if she hopes Haylie hears \u201cWe Don\u2019t Talk,\u201d Duff said, \u201cI don\u2019t think that would help\u2026 I don\u2019t know if she\u2019ll hear it. I don\u2019t know how she\u2019ll react to it. But it is a really personal part of my life that doesn\u2019t get to stay personal, so I might as well say how it is for me as an experience. And that\u2019s all I\u2019m trying to do. I\u2019m not trying to say anything bad, it\u2019s literally just my experience. And that\u2019s really all I feel like sharing.\u201d<\/p>\n
