A man in his 60s has died after his car entered the water at a pier in Mayo<\/a> this week.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, Garda\u00ed and emergency services were rushed to the scene after reports a car had entered the water at Belderrig Pier, in Mayo at around 8:15pm.<\/p>\n

The driver of the car, a man in his 60s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

Garda\u00ed<\/a> confirmed the local coroner was notified and the man\u2019s body was removed to the mortuary at Mayo University Hospital for a post-mortem examination<\/p>\n

A Garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: \u201cGarda\u00ed and emergency services responded to a fatal incident in which a car entered the water at Belderrig Pier, Co. Mayo, at approximately 8:15pm on Wednesday 18th February 2026.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe male driver aged in his 60s, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe local coroner was notified and his body was removed to the mortuary at Mayo University Hospital for a post-mortem examination.\u201d<\/p>\n
