{"id":310380,"date":"2026-02-21T20:22:07","date_gmt":"2026-02-21T20:22:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/310380\/"},"modified":"2026-02-21T20:22:07","modified_gmt":"2026-02-21T20:22:07","slug":"two-people-dead-after-road-collision-in-co-waterford-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/310380\/","title":{"rendered":"Two people dead after road collision in Co Waterford \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Two people have died and two others have been injured in a collision on the outskirts of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/waterford\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/waterford\/\">Waterford<\/a> city.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A man and a woman were fatally injured in the incident, which occurred at around midday on Saturday at Pickardstown on the Tramore Road.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Emergency services responded to the crash and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/an-garda-siochana\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/an-garda-siochana\/\">garda\u00ed<\/a> put traffic diversions in place. Ambulance crews, fire services and garda\u00ed were in attendance within minutes of the crash.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">It is understood the two people injured in the collision were brought to University Hospital Waterford (UHW). <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Garda\u00ed are understood to be working to identify those killed in the incident. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Drivers were advised by garda\u00ed to avoid the Ballykinsella Crossroads\/Pickardstown Cross areas and to follow all diversion signage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">In a statement, An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na said it could \u201cconfirm that we are currently at the scene of a fatal road traffic collision on the Tramore Road at Pickardstown, Co.
