{"id":311036,"date":"2026-02-22T06:34:11","date_gmt":"2026-02-22T06:34:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/311036\/"},"modified":"2026-02-22T06:34:11","modified_gmt":"2026-02-22T06:34:11","slug":"limerick-couple-knocked-down-and-rebuilt-wall-to-fit-new-caravan-behind-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/311036\/","title":{"rendered":"Limerick couple &#8216;knocked down and rebuilt&#8217; wall to fit new caravan behind home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"245\" data-end=\"438\">A COUPLE who\u00a0knocked a wall to enable them to install a new mobile home behind their house have been warned they must restore the wall to its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.limerickleader.ie\/section\/131\/news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">original condition.<\/a><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"245\" data-end=\"438\">Limerick City and County Council has initiated proceedings against\u00a0Michelle McNamara and Damien Collopy Jr arising from the unauthorised development at St Munchin&#8217;s Street, St Mary\u2019s Park in the city.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"262\" data-end=\"431\">Solicitor Cathal Quirke, representing Ms McNamara and Mr Collopy, said his clients had prepared a sworn\u00a0affidavit\u00a0arguing that the \u2018seven-year rule\u2019 should apply to the mobile home.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"262\" data-end=\"431\">Read next:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.limerickleader.ie\/news\/local-news\/2018373\/tragic-death-of-limerick-nurse-has-cast-a-huge-shadow-over-the-community.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Tragic death of Limerick nurse has \u2018cast a huge shadow over the community\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"433\" data-end=\"588\">Solicitor Will Leahy, representing the local authority,\u00a0 told Judge Peter White that the council\u2019s issue is with the boundary wall which, he explained, is located close to the caravan at the rear of the property.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"590\" data-end=\"844\">He said that while a mobile home had been kept at the house for some time, it was subsequently replaced with a newer and larger model.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"590\" data-end=\"844\">He added that in order to make it fit behind the house, the couple \u201cknocked down the wall and rebuilt it\u201d around the new mobile home.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"846\" data-end=\"956\">Mr Leahy told Judge White that when the wall was altered, part of it was \u201cput onto a council-owned green\u201d adding: &#8220;It was admitted that the wall was removed and rebuilt.
