Chief Justice John Roberts wrote that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act does not authorize the imposition of such duties. Trump strongly criticized the verdict on Truth Social and vowed to continue pursuing new, legally permissible tariffs. The move affects countries worldwide, including India.
