Charli XCX<\/a>\u00a0has praised\u00a0Foo Fighters<\/a>\u2019\u00a0Dave Grohl<\/a> for his \u201cabstract\u201d approach to her viral \u2018Apple\u2019 dance.<\/p>\n

Back in 2024,\u00a0a clip of Grohl performing the\u00a0familiar dance\u00a0alongside his daughter Harper <\/a>spread far and wide on TikTok as part of a trend that was set up by the choreographer Kelley Heyer.<\/p>\n

Yesterday (February 20), the two singers were both guests on\u00a0The Graham Norton Show, and while they shared the sofa, Norton played the video and asked Charli for her review of his performance.<\/p>\n

Grohl admitted that he was not used to learning choreography as a member of Foo Fighters, and said that he had recorded the clip impromptu on the strict orders of his daughter, but nevertheless, Charli had some complimentary words.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re\u00a0taking like\u00a0an abstract approach\u201d,\u00a0she said diplomatically. \u201cAnd that\u2019s cool.\u201d<\/p>\n

It became a ritual tradition during the \u2018Brat\u2019 tour for a big name to perform the dance while Charli played \u2018Apple\u2019<\/a>, with\u00a0Gracie Abrams taking the slot at her Glastonbury Other Stage show<\/a>, while others to\u00a0fill the role including\u00a0Chappell Roan<\/a>,\u00a0Amelia Dimoldenberg <\/a>and Charli\u2019s husband and The 1975 drummer George Daniel<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere on the show,\u00a0Foo Fighters gave a live debut to their new single \u2018Your Favorite Toy\u2019<\/a>,\u00a0the title track of\u00a0their 12th\u00a0studio album<\/a>, which is set to be released on April 24\u00a0\u2013 pre-order\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Scissor Sisters<\/a>\u2019\u00a0Jake Shears<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Babydaddy\u00a0also joined the Foos on backing vocals for the performance, while Grohl hinted that they may be returning to the UK after this summer for more live shows. For now,\u00a0they have only announced two shows at Liverpool\u2019s Anfield Stadium for June<\/a>,\u00a0as part of\u00a0a run of major European shows<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Charli, meanwhile, was on the\u00a0Norton\u00a0show to promote her new film\u00a0The Moment<\/a>, a music industry satire and mockumentary loosely based on her \u2018Brat\u2019 tour.<\/p>\n

NME\u00a0has awarded the film three stars<\/a>\u00a0and noted: \u201cThe Moment is too protracted and tonally uneven to work as a great mockumentary, but it has plenty of meme-worthy moments that TikTok will lap up. If that sounds like faint praise, well, just remember it was enough to make Emerald Fennell\u2019s\u00a0Saltburn<\/a>\u00a0a sensation back in 2023.\u201d<\/p>\n
