<\/p>\nRe:Anima, the European Joint Master in Animation, is now welcoming applications for its 2026\u201328 intake. The program offers an intensive two-year exploration of animation from an artistic perspective.<\/p>\n
Re:Anima\u2019s curriculum spans narrative, documentary, experimental, and expanded animation, while its mobility track takes students to leading institutions in three European countries. Now entering its fifth intake, and with approximately 70 students from around the world to date, Re:Anima is quickly establishing itself as one of the most dynamic incubators of creative animation talent.<\/p>\n

Based on cross-cultural collaboration and artistic research, the program is entirely delivered in English by the Institute of Art, Design + Technology D\u00fan Laoghaire<\/a> (Dublin, Ireland), LUCA School of Arts<\/a> (Genk, Belgium), and Universidade Lus\u00f3fona<\/a> (Lisbon, Portugal). Re:Anima is also part of the FilmEU European University<\/a>, an association of eight leading higher education institutions from across Europe specialising in Film and Media Arts.<\/p>\n During the two-year course, students spend at least one semester at each institution. Immersion in diverse artistic environments and industry contexts helps participants develop their own voices as animation directors. The curriculum combines artistic research methods, historical and critical contexts, technical experimentation from analogue practices to state-of-the-art digital technologies, and entrepreneurship for the creative industries. By the end of the program, students complete an individual animated project designed to push boundaries in storytelling, immersive media, VR, animated documentary, and more.<\/p>\n Alumni Achievements<\/p>\n Students from Re:Anima\u2019s first cohorts have already made their mark at major international animation events. At the 2025 Venice Biennale<\/a>, alumni Hsin-Hsuan Yeh, Menghui Huang, and Negar Motevalymeidanshah presented their graduation projects in the Immersive section. Motevalymeidanshah\u2019s Less than 5GR of Saffron<\/a> received the Special Jury Award for its powerful exploration of migration, memory, and resilience through VR.<\/p>\n Beyond VR and expanded animation, Re:Anima alumni have gone on to pursue a wide range of creative and academic paths. The program\u2019s commitment to diverse voices and contemporary concerns, paired with artistic rigor, has supported alumni whose work has been selected by major festivals such as Annecy and Animafest Zagreb, who have begun PhD programs, and who are making meaningful contributions to the field worldwide\u2014including Isaac Lugolobi\u2019s advocacy for inclusion in Uganda<\/a>.<\/p>\n Festival selections from Re:Anima alumni include:<\/p>\n Student Voices<\/p>\n Thanut Rujitanont<\/a>, a Re:Anima alumnus now midway through his PhD at Griffith Film School<\/a> in Australia, shares:<\/p>\n The perspectives and approaches I gained through Re:Anima continue to live with me, shaping the way I think, research, and create. Re:Anima was not only a formative educational experience, but a transformative one that continues to inspire my artistic and academic practice.<\/p>\n The sense of community fostered by the program often extends well beyond graduation, as described by Julia Granillo Tostado:<\/p>\n It was in Re:Anima that I began to feel confident in my work as a director and was able to envision the career path I am building for myself. And the experience didn\u2019t stop once the master\u2019s was done. The connections made there are long-lasting, and I feel a network of support that all sprouted during Re:Anima.
