Brenda Blethyn will be back on our TV screens soon in Channel 4’s revenge drama A Woman of Substance, but if you can’t wait that long, then we’ve got just the movie for you to watch tonight.<\/p>\n

Released in cinemas in November 2025, Dragonfly sees Blethyn play lonely pensioner Elsie who strikes up an unexpected friendship with her neighbour Colleen (Andrea Riseborough), a kindred spirit who has equally been deemed anonymous by society.<\/p>\n

Colleen offers to take over Elsie’s care, having seen how poorly she’s treated by her carers, but Elsie’s son John (Jason Watkins<\/a>) is suspicious of Colleen’s motives and decides to pay a visit which will have devastating consequences.<\/p>\n

If you didn’t manage to catch the movie in cinemas, but fancy checking it out, Dragonfly<\/a> is now available to watch at home. You can buy or rent Dragonfly from Prime Video<\/a>, AppleTV<\/a> and other participating digital retailers.<\/p>\n

Dragonfly currently holds a strong 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>, with Digital Spy calling it<\/a> a “powerful and compelling drama that explores those that society shuns, building to an ending you won’t forget”.<\/p>\n

“For a study of human connection at its most honest and affecting, with two remarkable lead performances, Dragonfly is a powerfully striking experience,” wrote Time Out<\/a>, with The Guardian<\/a> praising it as “a stark, fierce, wonderfully acted film”.<\/p>\n

The Daily Mail<\/a> added: “Dragonfly is quite brilliantly written and directed, and revolves around two acting performances that could be shown to drama students for the rest of time.”<\/p>\n

As mentioned above, Blethyn will next be seen in Channel 4’s A Woman of Substance<\/a>, alongside Jo Joyner, Emmett J Scanlan, Lydia Leonard, Will Mellor, Lenny Rush and Leanne Best. It’s based on the 1979 novel of the same name, with Blethyn taking on the lead role of “20th century feminist icon” Emma Harte. <\/p>\n
