The Dublin 9 player bought the lucky ticket at Centra on Lower Drumcondra Road and collected his prize at National Lottery headquarters this week.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe ticket might look small, but it felt like the heaviest bit of paper that I have ever had on me \u2013 I mean that in the best possible way,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI haven\u2019t let it out of my sight since I realised just how much it was worth. On Sunday, I had another ticket to check so I scanned them both at the same time. It never crossed my mind that I could have won the top prize, so I wasn\u2019t thinking of it at all.\u201d<\/p>\n
The winner has already begun making plans for the unexpected windfall, with travel high on his wish list.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have always wanted to live abroad in another city for an extended amount of time, at least two or three months. Top of my list would be Lisbon or Rome so this could be the perfect time to start thinking about that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe first thing I\u2019ll do though is a few home renovations.\u201d<\/p>\n
The win marks the second huge EuroMillions prize on the same Drumcondra street in the space of just a week.<\/p>\n
Earlier this month, another Dublin 9 player scooped \u20ac1,005,000 in the special EuroMillions Ireland Only Raffle after buying their ticket at a Spar store on Drumcondra Road Upper, just over a mile from the Centra shop.<\/p>\n
In between the two Drumcondra wins, a Dublin 24 player also landed \u20ac500,000 in the EuroMillions Plus draw on February 17 after purchasing their ticket at Dunnes Stores in The Square Shopping Centre in Tallaght.<\/p>\n
Centra Drumcondra store manager Josh Thornton said staff were delighted to hear the shop had sold the winning ticket.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re a busy store here in the heart of Drumcondra with a real mix of both local and passing trade. It\u2019s great to get a call like this from the National Lottery as we love to hear that one of our customers has won big,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
