Stephen Amell<\/a> believes he is at fault for the failure of Suits spinoff series Suits: LA.<\/p>\n

The 44-year-old actor was on the Tuesday (February 24) episode of Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast where he opened up about the show, which was canceled after just one season on NBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Michael started out by noting the last time Stephen was on the show, he was excited about Suits: LA.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat happened?\u201d he asked his guest.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt wasn\u2019t good enough,\u201d Stephen said bluntly. <\/p>\n

The host then pivoted, inquiring as to whether or not the Arrow star thought it was good enough and admitting it\u2019s a difficult question to answer.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnything that ends not on your terms is a failure,\u201d he responded.<\/p>\n

However, Stephen doesn\u2019t consider it a \u201ccomplete failure,\u201d because he\u2019s done two pilots so far and has been lucky enough that both have made it to series. <\/p>\n

\u201cUltimately, I think that the blame rests with me,\u201d he continued. \u201cI think it does, because whatever problem you have with the show\u2014because I think that there were issues\u2014but it\u2019s my job to solve those. To smooth them over. To gloss them up with some type of performance or something that, tangible or otherwise, covers up those mistakes.\u201d<\/p>\n

He thinks if he had done something \u201cmagnetic\u201d or \u201ccharismatic,\u201d it would have fixed \u201cthose problems.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I didn\u2019t do that,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

Stephen said he didn\u2019t find that with his character Ted Black, a cocky former federal prosecutor turned entertainment lawyer.<\/p>\n

Additionally, behind the scenes, he said it seemed like creator and showrunner Aaron Korsh was running into a struggle with the network regarding what they wanted the show to be.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt just seemed like what he wanted to do and what they wanted to do were different,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The actor noted they\u2019d been hopeful for a second season to get the chance to retool things, but the network chose to pull the plug instead.<\/p>\n

Michael pushed back a little on the idea it was all Stephen\u2018s fault, but the Heels alum argued that if it had been successful, he\u2019d get a \u201cdisproportionate amount of credit\u201d so it\u2019s \u201conly fair\u201d if he stands in front and takes the blame.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m the lead of the series, and it didn\u2019t work,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n

However, despite all of that, Stephen praised the people he worked with and said it was overall a \u201cwonderful\u201d experience. <\/p>\n
