{"id":31656,"date":"2025-09-19T22:12:08","date_gmt":"2025-09-19T22:12:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/31656\/"},"modified":"2025-09-19T22:12:08","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T22:12:08","slug":"cyclist-killed-in-cork-city-collision-was-japanese-national-who-had-only-moved-to-ireland-this-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/31656\/","title":{"rendered":"Cyclist killed in Cork city collision was Japanese national who had only moved to Ireland this year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\">A cyclist who died after she was hit by a truck in Cork has been named as 26-year-old Manani Oskau from Tokyo in Japan who only moved to Ireland earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"> The collision occurred at the junction of Albert Street and Albert Road in Cork city at 6.15pm on Thursday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Emergency services and garda\u00ed rushed to the area. However, Ms Oskau was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Her body was taken to the morgue at Cork University Hospital (CUH) for a postmortem examination. The truck driver was not injured in the incident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">It is understood that the parents of the deceased will arrive in Ireland this weekend. The young woman was in Ireland on a work visa and was employed at a restaurant in Cork city.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"> Meanwhile, Garda Forensic Collision investigators carried out an examination of the area where the accident occurred.
