Promoters cancel Shl\u00f8mo, Basswell, CARV, Odymel shows in wake of online allegations \u00b7 News \u27cb RABooking agency Steer Management has suspended multiple artists on its roster following the accusations.\"PromotersSeveral promoters have cancelled scheduled shows featuring Shl\u00f8mo<\/a>, Basswell<\/a>, CARV<\/a> and Odymel<\/a> after the hard techno artists were accused of sexual misconduct.<\/p>\n

The allegations were made by an Instagram account reportedly belonging to a former employee of Steer Management, the booking agency that represented all four artists. In the wake of the allegations, a number of promoters have called off sets with those accused.<\/p>\n

Indian promoter Subvolt went first, cancelling<\/a> Shl\u00f8mo’s performance in Mumbai last Saturday, February 21st, citing the “serious allegations” currently circulating publicly, with Marseille festival Le Bon Air<\/a> following suit.<\/p>\n

Dutch powerhouse VERKNIPT<\/a> then said that Shl\u00f8mo, Basswell and CARV will no longer perform at its upcoming shows, while Shl\u00f8mo and Basswell were also removed<\/a> from the lineup of Germany’s Open Beatz Festival. Basswell was pulled<\/a> from gigs at Berlin club OST<\/a> and S\u00e3o Paulo’s Under Division<\/a>. And Odymel will no longer play Australian festival Pitch Music & Arts<\/a> next week.<\/p>\n

Steer Management confirmed<\/a> that it had suspended a group of artists on its roster in light of the accusations, but stopped short of naming anyone specifically.<\/p>\n

Several of the accused have since responded publicly. Shl\u00f8mo, writing via Instagram Stories, dismissed the accusations as “a campaign of slander and defamation based on false information,” and threatened to take legal action against bradnolimit. CARV issued a statement<\/a> titled “I was unfaithful,” in which he admits to infidelity but insists there was “no non-consensual behaviour and no criminal wrongdoing.” <\/p>\n

Odymel posted a lengthy Instagram<\/a> statement, where he confessed to a bout of “sexsomnia”\u2014a rare sleep disorder where individuals engage in sexual acts\u2014but distanced himself from “all the problematic and repetitive behaviour that has been consciously committed and denounced in recent days.” Basswell is yet to respond publicly. Other artists signed to Steer, including William Luck, 6EJOU, ECZODIA, Onlynumbers and Natte Visstick, have since publicly left the agency. “We’re fortunate enough to be part of a scene surrounded by so many good souls,” Luck’s departing statement read. “Any dangerous or inappropriate behaviour must be absolutely condemned in order to protect these people.”<\/p>\n

The allegations have been met with condemnation from the wider hard techno community. In a since-expired post on Instagram Stories, Cera Khin insisted that accusations of this nature “must be taken seriously, proper investigations allowed to unfold and safety prioritised over reputation.”<\/p>\n

Airod, who left Steer before these allegations went public, expressed “support for those who have been affected,” while Rebekah, a long-time advocate for tackling<\/a> sexual assault and harassment in the scene, demanded the implementation of “zero-tolerance policies” across the board.<\/p>\n

“Abuse of power has no place in our scene, our communities and our raves,” her post read. “30 years on in my career and I still see very little change in this area.” <\/p>\n
