LOS ANGELES (WJW) \u2014 Christina Applegate<\/a> has multiple sclerosis (MS). Living with the nerve disorder means she has extreme pain much of the time. She\u2019s described the disease as awful.<\/p>\n

She recently spoke candidly with People Magazine about her health journey<\/a> since her diagnosis in 2021.<\/p>\n

The 54-year-old said she often stays in bed most of the day. Taking her kid to school and other activities pushes her.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to take [15-year-old Sadie]; it\u2019s my favorite thing to do. It\u2019s the only time we have together by ourselves,\u201d Applegate told People about her daughter.<\/a> \u201cI tell myself, \u2018Just get her there safely and get home so you can get back into bed.\u2019 And that\u2019s what I do.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cMarried \u2026 With Children\u201d and \u201cDead to Me\u201d actress is still working, just in a different capacity \u2014 letting people with MS know they are not alone, even if they, too, are confined to their beds much of the time.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s launching a new platform for others to tell their stories \u2014\u201cNext in MS\u201d<\/a> \u2014 and has a podcast called \u201cMeSsy.\u201d She also wrote a memoir, which is coming out next month, describing her Laurel Canyon childhood and what it was like to be in the spotlight at such a young age.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all have come from somewhere, some places more painful than others, and it\u2019s what you do with it, I guess,\u201d Applegate told People. \u201cThis is not an inspirational book, by any means. But it can inspire.\u201d<\/p>\n
