Fans have been waiting years for a new Lego Batman game<\/a>, and the moment is nearly here: the nostalgia-packed Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight<\/a> arrives May 29.<\/p>\n

To get the party started, Warner Bros. Games and DC released a cinematic that recreates an iconic moment from Tim Burton\u2019s 1989 Batman<\/a> in animated, brick-built form\u2014including, of course, the infectious tune from Prince\u2019s soundtrack that accompanies it.<\/p>\n

\u201cPartyman\u201d isn\u2019t quite the instantly recognizable jam that \u201cBatdance\u201d is, but it still rips, even 37 years later. Prince\u2019s Batman soundtrack went double platinum, but due to rights issues with Warner Bros., the songs from it didn\u2019t appear on any compilations until 2016\u2014the same year Prince passed away. Even still, the soundtrack remains one of the most memorable elements in Burton\u2019s film, and its inclusion in the Legacy of the Dark Knight cinematic perfectly ties into the game\u2019s stated mission of being \u201cinspired by decades of Batman films, television shows, comic books, and games.\u201d<\/p>\n

Just for fun, here\u2019s the sequence from Burton\u2019s film to compare\u2014this clip features the scenes that bookend the vandalism spree, including Jack Nicholson\u2019s Joker tangling with Kim Basinger\u2019s Vicki Vale. You will also notice the Joker has his white face covered with tan foundation at the beginning of the clip\u2026 but his true colors slip through at the end.<\/p>\n
