A<\/a> have announced their return after 20 years with a new album \u2018Prang\u2019 and single \u2018Hello Sunshine\u2019. Check it out below.<\/p>\n

The British alt-rock band\u2019s new album will serve as a follow-up to 2005\u2019s Teen Dance Ordinance.\u00a0\u2018Prang\u2019 arrives on May 22 via Cooking Vinyl, and is available to pre-order here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Its first taste comes in the form of strutting lead single \u2018Hello Sunshine\u2019. Built around a glaring guitar riff, the track sees the band return to the loose, joyful spirit of their earliest releases. \u201cHello. Sunshine. You feel good on my mind\/Let\u2019s go sunshine. You\u2019ll feel good at meal time,\u201d vocalist Jason Perry sings on the chorus.<\/p>\n

The band is comprised of Jason Perry, guitarist Mark Chapman, bassist Richard Trigg, drummer Adam Perry and keyboardist Giles Perry.<\/p>\n

Jason helmed production for the upcoming record, explaining that \u201cthere\u2019s a messiness to it that allows our personality to come through \u2013 which is where the magic really happens.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continues: \u201cI don\u2019t want anyone to put on an \u2018A\u2019 record and think it sounds like it was hard work making it. Life\u2019s hard enough \u2013 there has to be fun in making music.\u201d<\/p>\n

The record is set to include an eclectic range of sonic references, including \u201ccountry-tinged textures\u201d and \u201cgospel-inspired arrangements\u201d, per a press release, and lyrically will explore \u201cgratitude, resilience, mental health and friendship\u201d, with Perry a mental health advocate and ambassador for the International Association for Suicide Prevention.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy the end of \u2018A\u2019 in 2005, I felt like we didn\u2019t have anything to say anymore. Now, I really do,\u201d he said in a press release. \u201cWe had to go and live a life. We\u2019ve seen massive lows that we\u2019ve helped each other through. This album is gratitude \u2013 gratitude for friendship, for still making music, for still being alive.\u201d<\/p>\n

The band are set to make their live return at this year\u2019s Slam Dunk Festival<\/a>, 2000Trees<\/a> Festival and on tour with The Darkness this December<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A formed in Lowestoft in 1993, and released four studio albums between then and 2005, with their 2002 album \u2018Hi-Fi Serious\u2019 landing in the UK Top 20 album charts.<\/p>\n

Shortly after releasing \u2018Teen Dance Ordinance\u2019 in 2005, they briefly split, before returning in 2007 for a one-off gig. They\u2019ve played a spattering of shows since then, including the main stage at Download Pilot in 2021.<\/p>\n
