Aldi Ireland’s fresh 2% pay rise took effect this month.<\/p>\n
The salary boost means employees in Aldi’s Irish outlets will receive \u20ac15.40 per hour, which can increase to \u20ac17.75 following one to three years’ employment.<\/p>\n
The rise forms part of the supermarket retailer’s pledge to comply with the new Living Wage Recommendation of \u20ac15.40 per hour.<\/p>\n
Aldi<\/a> operates 166 outlets throughout Ireland, employing over 4,800 personnel.<\/p>\n Speaking last month, Niall O’Connor, Aldi Ireland’s Country Managing Director said: “We are proud to confirm a 2% pay increase for our valued hourly colleagues, effective from 1 February.”<\/p>\n An Aldi supermarket(Image: Getty Images)<\/p>\n “This marks the eighth consecutive year we have met or exceeded the recommended Living Wage.”<\/p>\n Aldi is investing approximately \u20ac5.5 million in this pay review, including auto-enrolment contributions.<\/p>\n Aldi first committed to paying the Living Wage at a minimum to all colleagues in 201 and this latest increase equates to a 25 per cent increase across the last five years.<\/p>\n The development follows reports that Aldi employees in the UK will also receive a pay increment, reports Galway Beo<\/a>.<\/p>\n Aldi will implement a new \u00a313.50 threshold in just over a month, delivering a significant benefit for its workforce.<\/p>\n From April 1, Store Assistants employed at UK branches will receive \u00a313.50 per hour nationally, whilst those working inside the M25 will get \u00a314.88.<\/p>\n These pay rates rise to \u00a314.47 and \u00a315.20 respectively according to length of service.<\/p>\n Aldi states the change will benefit 28,000 hourly-paid retail employees, representing the second wage increase for Aldi teams in 2026 alone, following January’s announcement of improved rates and extended maternity leave to 26 weeks at full salary.<\/p>\n Want to see more of the stories you love from the Irish Mirror?
