Demi Moore shocked fans when she arrived at Gucci’s Milan Fashion Week runway show with a dramatic bob and skintight leather look\u2014at least, once they realized it was her.<\/p>\n

Beyond her most iconic roles, Moore<\/a> has long been admired for her glossy waist-length hair, which she’s been growing out<\/a> since shaving her head for the 1997 action movie G.I. Jane. “It also kind of coincided with stepping back from work to be with my kids. I just started to let my hair grow,\u201d Moore divulged to Margaret Qualley for her 2025 Glamour Women of the Year<\/a> cover story. \u201cAnd I think probably because I\u2019m also lazy and I don\u2019t like to sit in the chair or have to go and get it done a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n

On February 27, however, the 63-year-old actor stepped out with her shortest hairstyle in 28 years, having reached a similar length post-buzz cut by February 1998.<\/p>\n

About 22-inches shorter than her trademark tresses, hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos gave Moore a chin-length bob with a wet finish for an even more dramatic effect.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted to give Demi Moore a major transformation for the first show of Demna at Gucci,\u201d Giannetos told Vogue<\/a> of the change. \u201cI wanted to highlight Demi\u2019s beautiful personality through the hair\u2026iconic, fabulous, edgy, but at the same time, effortless.\u201d<\/p>\n

Months before hard-launching her bob era, Demi Moore told Glamour<\/a> she spent years ignoring the pressure many women face to cut their hair short as they age. \u201c[We often hear] that as women get older, they shouldn\u2019t have long hair,\u201d Moore said. \u201cAnd for some reason, to me, I didn\u2019t buy it. I didn\u2019t believe it, and it didn\u2019t make sense to me why that had to be the case.”<\/p>\n

She continued, “And I did notice, particularly women who were going through menopause, that they were\u2026I was looking around and seeing they all were kind of cutting their hair in a very almost masculine way, just desexualizing themselves. And so I think there was a combination of this attachment to it too.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the year 2026, there’s few cuts considered as feminine and sexy as a well-styled bob<\/a>. Still, it remains to be seen if Demi Moore is truly committed to the transformation or if she was simply having fun with wigs for Milan Fashion Week. We’ll just have to tune into tomorrow’s Actor Awards, where she’s nominated alongside her Landman<\/a> costars for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series, to see if she returns to her signature look.<\/p>\n
