Two teenagers have been killed and three others injured following an early morning crash in Co Mayo.<\/p>\n
The single-vehicle incident occurred on\u00a0a local road (L5140) at Laghtadawannagh near Ballina at around 4.15am on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed and emergency services responded and two men in their late teens were pronounced deceased at the scene.<\/p>\n
Three other occupants of the car \u2014 two men in their mid-teens and one woman in her\u00a0late teens\u00a0\u2014 were transported by ambulance to Mayo University Hospital. Their injuries are not\u00a0life-threatening.<\/p>\n
The coroner has been notified and autopsies will be conducted in due course, garda\u00ed said.<\/p>\n
The road remains closed to facilitate a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, with local traffic diversions currently in place.<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) from the area at the time are asked to make it available to investigating garda\u00ed.<\/p>\n
