Met \u00c9ireann has said that there will be a \u201csplit\u201d in the weather fortunes of two sides of the country, with one getting a more favourable \u201cdrier than average\u201d outlook this week.<\/p>\n

It comes as Met \u00c9ireann issued a Status Yellow rain warning for four counties yesterday.<\/p>\n

The warning for counties Cork, Kerry, Galway and Mayo came into effect at midnight last night and will expire at midnight tonight, posing the threat of localised flooding and hazardous travelling conditions.<\/p>\n

Also predicted by the national forecaster is a \u201cnorth-west to south-east split\u201d in the expected weather conditions for this week, with the northwest set to receive \u201cwetter than average\u201d, unsettled weather while the southeast will experience \u201cdrier than average\u201d, more pleasant conditions.<\/p>\n

Today is forecast to be dull and windy with rain in most areas and temperatures of between 9C and 12C, dropping as low as 3C in the evening which is set to be “wet and blustery”, according to Met \u00c9ireann.<\/p>\n

Tomorrow will begin mostly dry as overnight rain in the east clears on, making way for showers from the northwest later on. These will move southeastwards, easing into sunnier and drier conditions with temperatures between 9C and 12C.<\/p>\n

By night, most of the country will be free of rain, though the clear spell will cause ice to develop, dropping temperatures to as low as freezing.<\/p>\n

Tuesday is set to be a dry day with sunny spells and highs of 9C to 12C. The evening will be cooler with very isolated showers and reaching between 1C and 5C.<\/p>\n

Wednesday will be largely dry with more sunny spells and temperatures of up to 13C, while Thursday is likely to see a return to wet conditions as rain moves eastwards across the country with temperatures of 8C to 11C.<\/p>\n
