Paul Rudd<\/a> has described the process of making a movie in Ireland as \u201ca real thrill\u201d and \u201ca dream come true\u201d. <\/p>\n

Power Ballad, directed and co-written by Sing Street\u2019s John Carney<\/a> and starring Rudd and Nick Jonas, was the closing screening of the Dublin International Film Festival. <\/p>\n

The comedy musical follows a wedding singer, Rick, played by Rudd, who crosses paths with fading boy band star Danny, played by Jonas, during a gig.<\/p>\n

The star of Marvel<\/a>\u2019s blockbuster Ant-Man movies added that he was a \u201cbig fan of John Carney\u201d and that the opportunity to work with the director in Ireland was \u201ca fun and joyous experience\u201d. <\/p>\n

Rudd, who has ties to Ireland on his father\u2019s side, added: \u201cIt sounds like I am sucking up, but the people are awesome here. People talk with one another and tell stories and laugh. I think there\u2019s an appreciation for life here that is harder to find in other parts of the world.\u201d <\/p>\n

The actor, who has an Irish pub called Sullivan\u2019s in the basement of his home, said that he enjoyed Irish music, culture and Guinness.<\/p>\n

The star added that he knew Cork \u201cfairly well\u201d, but that he would like to explore elsewhere in the country. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been amazing working here. But the problem is you can\u2019t just hop in your car and check out new places.\u201d <\/p>\n

Director John Carney said that Rudd \u201cis kind of a native at this stage\u201d but that he was \u201cdefinitely proud to show off Ireland\u201d to both Rudd and Jonas. <\/p>\n

\u201cI like filming in Dublin because it\u2019s close to my house and close to my bus route and I can go in to get a nice pint.\u201d <\/p>\n

The director explained: \u201cI like to make film-making part of my life so I\u2019d go in, do a scene with Nick Jonas and then go home and fill the dishwasher with my wife.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jonas Brothers singer Nick Jonas was also on the red carpet on Sunday night at the Bord G\u00e1is Energy Theatre and said he \u201cfell in love\u201d with Dublin.<\/p>\n

\u201cI always think it is telling when I am shooting something, how many friends come to see me. I had tons of friends come to see me in Dublin to hang out because they all love this city so much.\u201d <\/p>\n

Beth Fallon plays the role of Rudd\u2019s daughter in the film.<\/p>\n

A transition-year student, and recently named as an Irish Times\u2019 one to watch for 2026<\/a>, Fallon said that working with Rudd and Jonas was \u201csurreal\u201d. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe movie is such a beautiful movie, and [working with] them is such an added bonus\u201d. <\/p>\n
