{"id":325189,"date":"2026-03-02T16:14:08","date_gmt":"2026-03-02T16:14:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/325189\/"},"modified":"2026-03-02T16:14:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-02T16:14:08","slug":"new-research-strategy-to-power-irelands-next-economic-model","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/325189\/","title":{"rendered":"New Research Strategy to Power Ireland\u2019s Next Economic Model"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aiir-c-news-figure__image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/63dba95e04ef3.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><br \/>\n                                    Kildare North TD &amp; Minister for Higher Education James Lawless<\/p>\n<p class=\"aiir-c-news-article__abstract\">\n            Kildare North TD &amp; Minister for Higher Education James Lawless says &#8220;Research Ireland will play a central role in strengthening Ireland\u2019s research and innovation system&#8221;\n        <\/p>\n<p data-end=\"330\" data-start=\"154\">Research Ireland has launched a new five-year strategy aimed at delivering what the Taoiseach described as a \u201cstronger, more resilient Ireland through research and innovation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"622\" data-start=\"332\">The plan, titled Curiosity, Capability, Competitiveness \u2013 Charting Ireland\u2019s Research and Innovation Future 2026\u20132030, sets out ambitious targets including the delivery of 3,800 PhDs and 2,000 postdoctoral fellowships to strengthen Ireland\u2019s research talent pipeline and future workforce.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"913\" data-start=\"624\">Launching the strategy, Taoiseach\u00a0Miche\u00e1l Martin said research and innovation would be central to Ireland\u2019s future prosperity and competitiveness in a rapidly changing world. He said the strategy positions research not as a support function, but as a core national capability.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"1287\" data-start=\"915\">Among its economic targets, Research Ireland aims to support 50 active spin-out companies founded by agency-funded researchers and to deepen collaboration with enterprise, including increased co-investment from multinational companies and SMEs.
