Footage circulating today shows a US military aircraft falling from the sky in Kuwait’s Al Jahra area and a pilot parachuting from the aircraft, as conflict escalated across the region following Iranian strikes.<\/p>\n
US Central Command said an incident that occured during active fighting that included Iranian attacks.<\/p>\n
“Three US F-15E Strike Eagles flying in support of Operation Epic Fury went down over Kuwait due to an apparent friendly fire incident. During active combat – that included attacks from Iranian aircraft, ballistic missiles, and drones – the U.S. Air Force fighter jets were mistakenly shot down by Kuwaiti air defences,” CENTCOM said, adding that all six air crew ejected and were safe.<\/p>\n
“Kuwait has acknowledged this incident, and we are grateful for the efforts of the Kuwaiti defence forces and their support in this ongoing operation,” it added.<\/p>\n
Kuwait’s Ministry of Defence earlier confirmed the crash of multiple US military aircraft in its territory.<\/p>\n
In a statement carried by the state news agency, the ministry also said the recovery of crew members involved coordination with US forces.<\/p>\n
