Timed to coincide with the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/stargazing\/februarys-rare-planetary-alignment-peaks-this-week-heres-what-to-look-for-in-the-planet-parade\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/stargazing\/februarys-rare-planetary-alignment-peaks-this-week-heres-what-to-look-for-in-the-planet-parade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/stargazing\/februarys-rare-planetary-alignment-peaks-this-week-heres-what-to-look-for-in-the-planet-parade\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">rare alignment<\/a> of several bright planets in the night sky, the project continues Chandra&#8217;s broader effort to observe the universe through more than just sight, according to <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/chandra.si.edu\/photo\/2026\/sonify11\/\" data-url=\"https:\/\/chandra.si.edu\/photo\/2026\/sonify11\/\" target=\"_blank\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">a statement<\/a> from NASA sharing the new sonifications.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-seasonal\" class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"c93cbbbc-161e-4465-8434-919eb06bd6a0-2\">Sonification is the process of converting data into sound by mapping brightness, position and energy to pitch, volume and instrument choice. The process begins with real data collected by <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/18669-chandra-x-ray-observatory.html\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/18669-chandra-x-ray-observatory.html\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/18669-chandra-x-ray-observatory.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chandra<\/a>, which detects high-energy radiation produced when solar X-rays are reflected by planets, moons and other bodies in the solar system. Those observations are then combined with imagery from other observatories, including the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/15892-hubble-space-telescope.html\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/15892-hubble-space-telescope.html\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/15892-hubble-space-telescope.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hubble Space Telescope<\/a> and past planetary missions, to build a fuller, multiwavelength portrait.<\/p>\n<p>            You may like<\/p>\n<p>A digital &#8220;activation line&#8221; then sweeps across the image. As it encounters bright auroras, planetary disks or rings, the data values are translated into sound.
