It all changed in the 1990s as many took on the mantle of \u2018gastropub\u2019, serving restaurant-quality food in a relaxed pub atmosphere. The diehards couldn\u2019t stand the idea of food aromas sullying the enjoyment of their pint, but most were in favour. Nowadays, good pub food is a given, but with the economic turmoil of recent years, over 2,000 pubs have closed in the last two decades, so it\u2019s been nice to see some of these premises reopen recently.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom0 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">One such spot is The Libertine Lounge &amp; Lodgings, which just opened in Dublin 8\u2019s former Headline Bar, a landmark building at Leonard\u2019s Corner, on the South Circular Road and Clanbrassil Street crossroads.
