{"id":326638,"date":"2026-03-03T12:36:07","date_gmt":"2026-03-03T12:36:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/326638\/"},"modified":"2026-03-03T12:36:07","modified_gmt":"2026-03-03T12:36:07","slug":"the-unity-asset-store-is-ditching-publishers-based-in-china","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/326638\/","title":{"rendered":"The Unity Asset Store is ditching publishers based in China"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ContentParagraph ContentParagraph_align_left\" data-testid=\"content-paragraph\">Assets from publishers based in China, Hong Kong, and Macau will be delisted from the Unity Asset Store on March 31, 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ContentParagraph ContentParagraph_align_left\" data-testid=\"content-paragraph\"><a class=\"ContentText-BodyTextChunk ContentText-BodyTextChunk_link\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/discussions.unity.com\/t\/a-notice-for-asset-store-assets-from-publishers-in-greater-china\/1711108\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">A Unity spokesperson shared the news on the Unity forums<\/a> and said the removal is the result of updated regional licensing, distribution, and compliance requirements for publishers in the Greater China region.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ContentParagraph ContentParagraph_align_left\" data-testid=\"content-paragraph\">The news comes around a year after <a class=\"ContentText-BodyTextChunk ContentText-BodyTextChunk_link\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gamedeveloper.com\/business\/removal-of-unity-6-from-china-not-tied-to-tariffs-says-unity\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Unity 6 was pulled from China, Hong Kong, and Macau<\/a>\u2014leaving developers in those regions with a customized version of the engine based on Unity 2022 LTS\u2014and will have widespread ramifications.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ContentParagraph ContentParagraph_align_left\" data-testid=\"content-paragraph\">Unity noted that users who have purchased assets from publishers in Greater China will still be able to download and use them moving forward.
