{"id":327543,"date":"2026-03-04T00:49:13","date_gmt":"2026-03-04T00:49:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/327543\/"},"modified":"2026-03-04T00:49:13","modified_gmt":"2026-03-04T00:49:13","slug":"adrian-smith-gordon-gill-adds-skyscraper-to-miami-waterfront","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/327543\/","title":{"rendered":"Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill adds skyscraper to Miami waterfront"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>American architecture studio <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/adrian-smith-gordon-gill-architecture\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture<\/a> has completed the 47-storey Una Residences <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/skyscrapers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">skyscraper<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/miami\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Miami<\/a>, USA, which features wraparound terraces and sleek facades.<\/p>\n<p>Una Residences by <a href=\"https:\/\/smithgill.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill<\/a> (AS+GG) rises from the condo-lined avenues of South Brickell, on Miami&#8217;s mainland, on the channel waterfront near the Rickenbacker Causeway.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2302149 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/adrian-smith-gordon-gill-miami-una-skyscraper_dezeen_2364_col_3-852x639.jpg\" alt=\"Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture Miami skyscraper\" width=\"2364\" height=\"1773\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture has completed a skyscraper in Miami<\/p>\n<p>The design of the 47-storey skyscraper was led by studio founders Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill, formerly of SOM, where they led the design of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/burj-khalifa\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Burj Khalifa<\/a>, the world&#8217;s tallest skyscraper in Dubai.<\/p>\n<p>For the Una Residences, AS+GG took its signature, streamlined design to a brief that required the standard Miami treatment \u2013 maximal luxury, plentiful views and structural affordances for wind.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2302146 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/adrian-smith-gordon-gill-miami-una-skyscraper_dezeen_2364_col_1-852x639.jpg\" alt=\"Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill skyscraper\" width=\"2364\" height=\"1773\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>The form is informed by yachts design<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Known globally for supertall and high-performance buildings, AS+GG approached Una as a sculptural, yacht-inspired form \u2013 its sweeping curves engineered to maximize unobstructed views of the Atlantic Ocean, Key Biscayne and Downtown Miami while mitigating solar gain and wind loads,&#8221; said developers for the project <a href=\"https:\/\/www.okogroup.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">OKO Group<\/a> and Cain.<\/p>\n<p>Formally, the tower features a base with its massive structural columns visible in the double-height terrace on the second storey. There is a podium with amenity spaces, and a sweeping cantilever on the tower that overlooks it.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2302148 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/adrian-smith-gordon-gill-miami-una-skyscraper_dezeen_2364_col_2-852x639.jpg\" alt=\"Adrian Smith Gordon Gill Miami skyscraper\" width=\"2364\" height=\"1773\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>Structural columns are visible in a double-height balcony near the base<\/p>\n<p>Metal-clad slabs extend past the curtain wall on the east and on the west, and they fan out further to create wrap-around balconies.<\/p>\n<p>Around the 15th storey, the footprint of the tower widens with additional curtain wall covering expanded floorplates. In plan, this section appears to be two interlocking ovals.<\/p>\n<p>The elongated portion of the tower continues up to the wave-like bulkhead, giving the skyscraper a top-heavy appearance.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2026\/02\/19\/carlos-ott-cube-3-design-miami-delano-residences-skyscraper\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<img width=\"191\" height=\"191\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/delano-residences-miami-carlos-ott-cube-3-_dezeen-sq-1-191x191.jpg\" class=\"excludeLightbox wp-post-image\" alt=\"Delano Residences\" decoding=\"async\" data-pin-nopin=\"true\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p> Carlos Ott and Cube 3 design &#8220;vertical resort&#8221; supertall skyscraper for Miami\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/a><\/p>\n<p>AS+GG also designed the interiors of the public spaces, amenity spaces, and the 129 units, which range from two to five-bedroom apartments.<\/p>\n<p>The developers contend that the terrace space and amenities featured in the building put it in the class of an &#8220;increasingly rare typology&#8221;
