He was jailed at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/circuit-court\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/circuit-court\/\">Galway Circuit Court<\/a> for 2\u00bd years, with the final year suspended. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">At the High Court this week, lawyers for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/nursing-and-midwifery-board-of-ireland\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/nursing-and-midwifery-board-of-ireland\/\">Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland<\/a> sought to have Valverde Mateo\u2019s registration with it cancelled. The midwifery board regulates the profession in Ireland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">High Court president Judge David Barniville said the case related to an \u201cincredibly serious\u201d criminal offence involving the creation and distribution of child sexual abuse material. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Following an application moved by Yvanne Kennedy, solicitor for the midwifery board, the judge said he had \u201cno hesitation\u201d in imposing the sanction sought by it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Valverde Mateo, formerly of Ashfield Road, Greenfields, Newcastle, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/galway\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/galway\/\">Galway<\/a>, remains in custody, the court heard.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">According to midwifery board court documents, it considered cancelling Valverde Mateo registration at a meeting in January.
