Brentford picked up an impressive point away from home on Tuesday night, with Keith Andrews’ side showing plenty of resilience to earn a 0-0 draw at Bournemouth.<\/p>\n

It was a game that was not short on chances despite the scoreline, especially for the home side. Bournemouth missed a number of goalscoring opportunities, hitting the bar on a couple of occasions and forcing Caoimh\u00edn Kelleher into one or two excellent saves.<\/p>\n

Brentford did not quite have the same clearcut chances, but they defended well to get what could end up being a valuable point in the race for European football.<\/p>\n

Nathan Collins Makes Admission On Brentford Struggles<\/p>\n

Nathan Collins played a key role in helping Brentford to a clean sheet last, coming back into the starting XI after a spell out of the team. This was the Irishman’s first league start since January 25th, being left out of the side for the previous five Premier League fixtures.<\/p>\n

Speaking after the game, he admitted that being dropped from the side was difficult for him, even if he still wished his teammates well during his spell on the bench.<\/p>\n

It’s never easy being out of the team.\u00a0It’s a tough position to be in.<\/p>\n

It was my first time obviously being captain and out of that role, so I found it a difficult one.<\/p>\n

You kind of do it for the lads and do it for this team. We’re all such good friends and mates that you want them to win and want them to be successful.<\/p>\n

I kind of dug in. It’s a compliment to the squad and where it is, the competition for places, who can come in and change games.<\/p>\n

The squad is strong, we’re in a good place and we’re all doing well.<\/p>\n

Nathan Collins will be hoping to retain his place in the starting XI moving forward, with an FA Cup game at West Ham on Monday evening next on the agenda.<\/p>\n

Brentford’s aim will then be to make a serious push for European football over the coming months. A top seven finish (or perhaps top eight) would likely be enough to ensure they qualify for continental competition next season, with the club currently seventh in the table.<\/p>\n

They sit just four points off fifth and a likely Champions League place.<\/p>\n
