<\/p>\nAnd 18 years after they first met, former Disney Channel star Gomez (33) has now confirmed that best friend Swift (36) wrote not one, but two songs about her \u2013 and fans have only heard one of them.<\/p>\n
Back when Swift dropped her ninth album Evermore in 2020, fans speculated that the song Dorothea was about actor and singer Gomez.<\/p>\n
The song, which Swift said at the time was about a \u201cgirl who left her small town to chase down Hollywood dreams\u201d, addresses a woman who is \u201csellin\u2019 make-up\u201d, which fans saw as a reference to Gomez\u2019s Rare Beauty cosmetics line.<\/p>\n
Appearing on her husband Benny Blanco\u2019s new video series Friends Keep Secrets on Tuesday, Gomez confirmed that not only was Dorothea about her, but Swift had written another unreleased track about their friendship.<\/p>\n
\u201cDorothea is about me,\u201d she said. \u201cI feel like a lot of huge moments that were self-defining, from relationships to \u00adfamily to love to hate, all of it in between \u2013 we were figuring it out because I was 15 and she was 18.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I listen to it, I\u2019m so impressed by how it\u2019s eloquently put.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gomez then confirmed that she and Swift had also written a song \u201cover, \u00adeasily, a decade ago\u201d about the pair of them called Family that was never released. \u201cIt was basically saying, \u2018you have these amazing dreams. You want to be in a movie, in every crowd I see you\u2019,\u201d Gomez recalled.<\/p>\n
\u201cThen her part was, \u2018you believe in my stupid dreams, like playing stadiums\u2019,\u201d she said. \u201cNow, when I listen to those songs, both of those things have happened for us. And that\u2019s really sweet because back then, she was just like, \u2018I wrote this song about us and it was just our story,\u2019 and it was the sweetest thing.\u201d<\/p>\n
It\u2019s unbelievable to come from 17 years of friendship<\/p>\n
It was back in 2008 when Swift and Gomez became friends, having been seen on a double date with their respective boyfriends, Joe and Nick Jonas. According to Gomez, they \u201cjust clicked\u201d, with Swift referring to Gomez as \u201cthe closest thing I\u2019ve ever had to a sister\u201d.<\/p>\n
Amid a notoriously cut-throat industry, the pair had clearly found a real connection. In fact, in a 2022 interview, Gomez said Swift was her only friend in the \u00adindustry. Swift was one of the guests at Gomez\u2019s wedding to music producer Blanco in September, and even gave a speech on the day.<\/p>\n
Reflecting on their friendship on her husband\u2019s podcast, Gomez said: \u201cIt\u2019s unbelievable to come from 17 years of friendship, from multiple heartbreaks and love stories and fun stories in life.
