{"id":330317,"date":"2026-03-05T13:21:07","date_gmt":"2026-03-05T13:21:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/330317\/"},"modified":"2026-03-05T13:21:07","modified_gmt":"2026-03-05T13:21:07","slug":"kilkenny-farm-sells-for-e850000-at-lively-auction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/330317\/","title":{"rendered":"Kilkenny farm sells for \u20ac850,000 at lively auction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 57-acre farm <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishexaminer.com\/farming\/arid-41794703.html\">featured here on February 16<\/a> was sold at auction on Friday, February 27, at the Clubhouse Hotel, Kilkenny.<\/p>\n<p>The property was at Muckalee, Ballyfoyle, 7km south of Castlecomer and 12km north of Kilkenny City. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cWe had a full auction room, with a number of interested parties present,\u201d said auctioneer Ed Donohue of Kilkenny-based Donohue Town &amp; Country<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cBidding opened at \u20ac500,000, and it went up quickly to \u20ac850,000. At that point, we went out and consulted with the vendors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cWe came back and put the property on the market and after another two bids, it made a further \u20ac10,000, selling for \u20ac860,000 (\u20ac14,900\/acre). There were four different bidders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The successful purchaser was from outside the area, Mr Donohue said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cHe was possibly looking to do up the bungalow and add a bit of value to the land.
